Joseph Carlin

Executive Vice President & Chief Legal Officer

Mr. Carlin is an Executive Vice President and the Chief Legal Officer for ALQIMI. Mr. Carlin is also a member of the Company's Executive Management Committee.
 

As the CLO, Mr. Carlin is responsible for managing all of ALQIMI's legal, regulatory and compliance matters as well as its outside counsel. Mr. Carlin has had a long history with ALQIMI as he acted as the Company's outside general counsel for approximately 8 years prior to joining the Company in February 2007. Given his finance background, Mr. Carlin also has oversight for the Company's accounting, tax and finance groups, and is intimately involved in the Company's banking relationships, financial reporting and budgeting, and strategic financial planning.

Prior to assuming the CLO role, Mr. Carlin served as ALQIMI's interim President from 2011 to 2018. From 2007 to 2011, Mr. Carlin served as Executive Vice President for Corporate Development (as well as General Counsel). In that role, Mr. Carlin assisted with the development and execution of strategic growth initiatives together with the Company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Such initiatives included investments in new technologies and business lines, the establishment of international subsidiaries and operations, the formation and management of strategic alliances, partnerships and joint ventures and acquisitions.

While in private law practice, Mr. Carlin was an equity partner in the corporate and securities practices at the law firms Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP of Philadelphia and Gardner Carton & Douglas LLP of Chicago and was a corporate and securities attorney with the Washington, DC law firm Arnold & Porter LLP. At these firms, Mr. Carlin handled a wide range of complex and sophisticated corporate, transactional and finance matters, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions (equity and debt, public and private, VC and PE), large syndicated loan facilities, complex corporate restructurings, project development and finance and domestic and international joint ventures and strategic alliances.

Mr. Carlin holds a B.A. degree, cum laude, from the University of New Hampshire, and a Juris Doctor degree from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in Washington, DC. He is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars.
